The Bertone Refuge is located near the small village of Le Pré in front of Mont Blanc, mountain much loved and lived in all detail by mountain guide Lorenzino Cosson.

This is called Giorgio Bertone, mountain guide and close friend of Renzo, lived many adventures together in particular the first Italian ascent of the south-east wall of the Nose to Capitan in Yosemite Valley. They were also very close in mountain rescue and photography. But in August 1977 the fate takes away, to us and to his friend, George a unique person in all.

When you visit the refuge, as well as enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mont Blanc range, you can still feel that energy in the air and that friendship that unites us all and that has accompanied in their short but intense journey two great friends like Giorgio and Renzo. A significant phrase among Renzo and Giorgio, in a moment of difficulty in climbing on a wall delaying, Renzo turned to George and said: “You saw what a mountaineer have you tried as a companion” and Giorgio handing hands answered “climbers if they are friends as you like but no force … we go”

The shelter is from the towns of Courmayeur and Planpinceux 1h and 30 m walk.

Do not forget to take with you in your rucksack everything necessary for the trip, and if advanced a small space you bring “a friend”! Visit of Giorgio Bertone www.giorgiobertone.it
